VPI Prime vta tower hight w/Kiseki Purple Heart

VPI Prime vta tower hight w/Kiseki Purple Heart

Postby JustinM » Sat Nov 09, 2019 8:20 pm

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has had to lower the male bearing/pivot spike when using Kiseki Purple Heart cartridge or another cartridge. When I was trying to get the top of the head shell and bottom of cartridge parallel to the platter it still looks like it has a small rake to it. It sounds very good, but wondering if getting the vta a little lower would make any further improvements?
Thanks

Sorry about that I should have been more specific. It’s a VPI Prime running on bare plater, no mat with deluxe delrin and stainless steel screw down clamp. I had the Kiseki previously mounted on my scoutmaster w/jmw 9" arm and acrylic plater and it seemed to have more range with the manual vat adjustment. I imagine that the thinner plater also came into play?
Thanks

If anyone else is using the Kiseki Purple Heart with the VPI prime can you please share your experience with setting up this cartridge specifically where your vta ended up?
Thanks so much in advance!

Hi Justin

I used to have a prime signature with a Kiseki PH, I was using a platter mat and had no problem to set the Cartridge parallel to the platter

I had a PH on my Avenger with the 10" 3D arm and had no problems getting the cart level, with room to raise the tail end via the VTA tower.

Post a picture of your tonearm with the cartridge resting on a record

Here’s a couple pictures of the bottom of the cartridge parallel to the record which appears to be at a slight angle? Also a picture of the gauge next to the tone arm which actually looks good if the 3D arms are straight and not tapered? Just wondering if it looks normal to everyone else?
Thanks
